Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and financial management, with the ability to oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) standards and relevant accounting standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly financial close process and the distribution of monthly financial reporting
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, inventory management, and taxes
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of results and makes recommendations to Senior Management
- Coordinate and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Lead and mentor the accounting team currently consisting of two accounting staff, providing guidance, training and support for professional development and review work completed by team by providing thorough feedback and hold team accountable to key deadlines and performance objectives
- Comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirement and tax filings as applicable
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives and ensuring alignment of accounting team priorities to support the strategic business objectives
- Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management as necessary
- Consistently review existing processes and procedures to identify opportunities for streamlining or improving effectiveness. Ensure processes evolve over time to support growth, utilizing technology to maximize efficiency as applicable
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Proven ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines with a keen attention to detail and accuracy and expertise in processes related to account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, ability to review and identify discrepancies and identify and explain standard account variances and anomalies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management
- Advanced financial modeling skills and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with accounting systems required, experience with specific systems including Adaptive Insights and NetSuite an asset
- Prior experience working in a public company environment and understanding of IFRS accounting standards
- Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance requirements to ensure appropriate documentation is maintained and compliance is maintained
- Upholding a high standard of fairness and ethics in everyday words and actions and maintaining a high degree of integrity, transparency and trushworthiness
- Works with minimal guidance and direction, demonstrating creativity in finding and offering solutions and assessing trade-offs in decision making and flexibility in looking for solutions that are efficient and compliant
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- University degree and Accounting Designation required (CPA)
- At least five years of progressive financial experience

Additional Information
- salary range: 95,000-145,000
