Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs, The Director, Field Medical will manage and support a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) within the hematology/oncology therapeutic area. This role will focus on driving execution of medical field activities, developing MSL capabilities, and ensuring consistent communication of medical and scientific information to external stakeholders. The Director will play a key operational role in advancing the success of the MSL team and maintaining strong field engagement aligned with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Medical Science Liaisons to achieve excellence in field medical engagement
- Establish a highly functioning, customer centric, credible and compliant field medical organization
- Ensure appropriate training and compliant execution of our initiatives and other permissible field activities
- Ensure team field activity level and field metrics
- Collaborate with our internal partners (Market Access primarily), and other cross functional partners to ensure alignment and communication of Medical Affairs (MA) field medical goals and team value proposition
- Participate in the development of educational materials/evidence communication tools and champions the regulatory/legal/health care compliance approvals
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment centered on continuous learning and development
- Aid in the creation and implementation of field collaborative strategies to ensure compliant partnership with other customer-facing teams
- Provide strategic guidance to the MSL team, ensuring alignment with the corporate and medical strategy
- Supervise the implementation of the Medical Affairs Field Plan and ensure adherence to timelines and deliverables
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of MSL activities and insights for cross-functional visibility and strategic use
- Provide field-based insights to internal stakeholders to support data generation, planning, and communication initiatives
- Develops strategic plans and coordinates activities for scientific meetings and congresses
- • Ensures company policies, principles and financial controls are maintained with integrity and professionalism being displayed internally and externally
Qualifications and Experience
- A doctoral-level degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD) in a health or life sciences field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Medical Affairs, with at least 3 years of direct team management experience.
- Prior work experience in oncology, hematology, or transplant-related therapeutic areas is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of field-based medical engagement, scientific communication, and external expert collaboration.
- Leadership & People Management – Strong team leadership, development, and coaching skills.
- Deep understanding of hematology/oncology and BMT therapeutic areas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external scientific discussions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee complex logistics.
- Comfort working with healthcare professionals, researchers, and key opinion leaders.
- Ability to translate field insights into meaningful business input.
- Working knowledge of industry codes of conduct and medical compliance standards.
Additional Information
- Remote position with travel across the US for events, meetings, and programs.
- Base salary range: $230,000-$270,000 USD
- Travel: 30-50%

Compensation
$230,000.00 - $270,000.00 per year
